Brands to Know: Belgian Shoes
So you think you’ve got your base of shoes covered? Wingtips? Check. Black cap toes? Check. Penny loafers? Check. Boat shoes, something suede, and a boot? Check, check, check. Hell, you might just think you have it all, but we’re not convinced your collection is complete.
With the current renaissance of dandyism, some great old styles have been coming back into the forefront of fashion: velvet slippers, smoking jackets, go-to-hell pants. But constantly unmentioned is the footwear from the brand Belgian Shoes.
Belgian Shoes has been around since the 40s. They design a few styles, but the focus is on their Mr. Casual shoe. All of their kicks are incredibly comfortable, which, the company claims, is a result of the manufacturing method of constructing them from the inside and turning them right-side out.
The aesthetic of the company is definitively European. Shoes have little bows that harken to old portraits of French kings. And yet they’re a staple of the preppy cult. They blend with a dinner jacket and silk trousers at supper in your house. They look great with a suit. They’re dressy yet somehow classically leisurely.
And the materials and colors they come in — lights out. Get a blue suede, a beautiful tartan, wool, velvet, anything. They’re a great company to use for that splash of tongue-in-cheek color. So give it a go at their site.

This is a very nice brand to know. Thanks a lot guys. Now, I want all of them!
I don’t understand the obsession with these. So dainty and feminine.
