Selvedge denim is woven on vintage looms that has clean edge on the out-seam of the jeans, also known as the self-edge. Selvedge denim won’t fray as easily as lower-grade denim because the edge is closed. Often selvage jeans will have two red stripes on the out-seam, but it can be almost any color.
