With everyone so excited about Michael Bastian’s new collection for GANT, we feel like people have forgotten about GANT’s other line, Rugger. After the company realized that they had lost some of their classic appeal in favor of a more European line, they relaunched their decidedly American Rugger line to the delight of stylish guys everywhere. Characterized by simple oxford shirts, trim rugbys, and great pieces of outerwear, it seems like the GANT Rugger line has really hit its stride for their Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

Running through the collection, we’ve found so many wearable pieces that are just begging to be bought. Their vintage inspired shirting is what’s really stealing the show, though. They’ve gone back to their heritage with their “Hugger” style as all of the details from the logo to the removed locker loop are perfect interpretations of the brand’s storied origins. And maybe the best part is that while Bastian’s line for GANT will probably fall somewhere just outside of many college student’s price-points, the Rugger line is totally affordable and will be sure to last you years.

It’s collections like this that make us sleep easy at night because we’re reminded how many level headed guys their are in the industry making affordable and functional clothing that also happens to be very easy on the eye. So if you’re in the New York area, we suggest heading down to their flagship on 5th Ave., but if you’re not lucky enough to be an arms length away from The Big Apple you can find their stuff online at Barney’s and Epaulet. Also, we would be remiss if we didn’t put up the shots from GANT Rugger’s awesome lookbook–it puts the clothing in a great light and gets you excited for Spring.
