We’ve been seeing camouflage in all shapes and sizes from Tommy Ton’s awesome pictures of Milan Fashion Week and Pitti Uomo. While we try to stay away from trends, these photos have opened our eyes up to the potential for camouflage–as long as it is done correctly. Camouflage is the kind of pattern that’s going to raise an eyebrow or two, so to pull it off tastefully, make sure you wear it in moderation. While we love the spirit of many of these guys who wear camouflage jackets or trousers, that’s best left up to the eccentric professionals.

We think that the best place for us normal guys to incorporate it is in a shirt. Michael Bastian has an absolutely stunning camouflage shirt that is made for guys that are newcomers to the whole military thing. We’re not the biggest fans of the epaulets, but you can always have your tailor get rid of them. Wear the shirt under a nice navy jacket and grey or navy suit trousers in order to tone it down a bit. J. Crew just came out with a very reasonably-priced double-breasted suit that ought to do the trick.

Sophistication should really be the key word in this outfit so we’ve picked the perfect pair of Moscot glasses in order to help you fill the part. Of course, footwear plays a major role in the look, and there are few companies that know how to mix sophistication and edge like Barker Black. We love their suede penny loafer because it has such a classic shape, but the crown penny keeper really livens the shoe up. As a final note, don’t be afraid to experiment with different patterns as it can lead to some of your best outfits.
