Sartorialist’s Top Ten: #9 Fonzworth Bentley

Few people can get famous based on dress and manners alone, but Fonzworth Bentley thrust himself into the public eye from the driver’s seat of P Diddy’s limo. Since his rise to fame, Fonzworth has been one of the guys leading hip hop into the sartorial spotlight along with Kanye West and Jay-Z. The thing that we prefer about Fonzworth’s style about the other two is that he is much more refined.

This photograph is the perfect example of Fonzworth at his best. The simple grey suit sets the tone for his look and allows the other pieces to make the statement. The glasses and pocket square work well together because they are both relatively classic with a slight tweak as the square is half-folded, half-stuffed and the frames have a little more heft than one might expect. However, it’s the tie and briefcase that are really setting his look apart. The purple tie with the big dimple makes a subtle statement up top and the orange briefcase pops from under his hand.
