Style Icon: Scott Sternberg

One of the things we feel guys struggle the most with when they get dressed in the morning is knowing what works for them. Let’s face it, if you’re 5’6 and weight 140, you’re going to struggle to look like Daniel Craig. On the flip side, Hugh Jackman is never going to be able to pull off the little skinny guy look. This is why we love Band of Outsider’s Designer Scott Sternberg’s style. He knows what he can and can’t do and works within these boundaries.

He knows he looks good in a slim notch lapel and when he goes peak he doesn’t try to pull of a Tom Ford piece. You’ll always find him in a perfect oxford shirt and classic bow tie, which is about as traditional as one could dress, but he’ll pair them with a pair of horn-rimmed glasses or some Band of Outsider’s x Sperry boat shoes to give off that quirky-confident vibe. It’s a look that works so well as he focuses on only one or two small tweaks to a classic look instead of layering on all these bells and whistles that we see too many guys wearing nowadays.

As much as we love Sternberg’s style, it’s important to note that it is a reflection of himself because you’re not gonna pull of a clever look like this unless you’ve got the goods to back it up. So, to confirm said personality, we’ll leave you with a word of advice from the man himself, “Talking about what brand you’re wearing is gay in the bad way. Just keep quiet and play dumb if someone asks. Talking about what a great deal you got on the aforementioned item is worse. If you must, tell your mom, because she has sale empathy and will take your victory as her own. It’s sick.”
