Style Icon: Tom Ford
He is one of the most prolific creative minds of our time and possibly the biggest fashion celebrity out there. At Gucci, he resurrected an empire, at Tom Ford he has solidified his legacy, and behind the camera of A Single Man he proved to be greater than we could ever have expected. It only makes sense that the biggest icon in the world of style would dress in a way befitting his position, and that he does. He’s not the type of guy that will wear anything and everything, but he has carved out a uniform that perfectly represents his creative vision.
We love it when guys dress with conviction and we can’t think of many men who do it better than Tom Ford. Most guys who stick to uniforms wear something that is tame so that they’re not overpowered by their outfit, but Mr. Ford is almost always in a grey or navy suit–often times a three-piece– with sweeping peak lapels that show he isn’t afraid to let his clothing do some of the talking. Ford never seems to be overpowered by his outfits as he absolutely owns whatever he is wearing on the occasion.
Some might be opposed to his sexually-charged clothing and feel like he has reduced fashion to the lowest common denominator, but we believe that he deserves a little more credit than that. He may dress in a way that screams sex, but what’s so bad about that? He knows he looks good and teaches us all the lesson that the best accessory is confidence. So take note and unbutton your shirt a little more than usual, Mr. Ford would be proud.
