This Week In Sales
We waited until after Christmas for our sales update for a couple of reasons. First, everyone slashes prices like mad right after the big day, and second, we figured you might have picked up some extra spending money yesterday.
So, to start things off, we’ll give you the head’s up on our favorite sale. Paul Stuart just dropped their holiday sale and boy are we happy. Not only are their tons of great Paul Stuart goods that you can pick up, but the Phineas Cole collection is first rate. There are a couple pieces worth checking out: the Michael Glen Plaid Suit, Phillip Chalk Stripe Suit, Michael Donegal Tweed Suit (above), Nigel Stripe Dress Shirt, and Astor Twill Check Dress Shirt. Of All of these, the Donegal Tweed piece reigns supreme. It’s absolutely gorgeous and we love how Phineas Cole knows to keep notch lapels slim despite their love for big sweeping peak lapels. The whole suit will run you 1,097—$800 for just the jacket–which may sound pricey, but we assure you is not a lot to pay for this kind of quality.
The American clothing powerhouses are the place to be when it comes to post-Christmas sales, as Brooks Brothers, J. Crew, and Ralph Lauren are all giving some nice discounts. First, Brooks Brothers is going 50% off (wiht an additional 15% for those who place orders today). This means some very affordable suits and sport coats, but make sure to take a look at the footwear section, as this is wear Brooks Brothers really does well for themselves. J. Crew is giving you an extra 20% off of their Final Sale (as long as you enter extra20 at checkout). This is a good place to pick up your basic khakis and sweaters for pretty cheap. Of these three, Ralph Lauren is the one that’s really doing damage. They’re offering an extra 25% off of many items in their Winter Sale, which makes for a great place to get your essentials. We suggest picking up their Slim Tuxedo Shirt, Slim Chinos, and Slim Polo.
The department stores are the other places to check out if you’re looking for a good sale. Today only, Saks is chopping up to 70% off their goods. You can get Ralph Lauren Black Label Skinny Cords for $110, Gucci Dress pants for $280 (down from $935), and a nice slim Burberry Sport Shirt for $80. Neiman Marcus also has some nice finds in their post-Christmas sale. A great pair of Zegna Dress Loafers for $470 (from $900), a Burberry Herringbone Sport Coat for $942 (from $1,795), and a bunch of David Hart & Co. Ties for $80. Finally, Bloomingdales has a ton of great pickups with 30%-50% off of both normal and on-sale merchandise. You can get a gorgeous double-breasted piece from Spurr for $711, Ralph Lauren White Jeans for $53, Robert Geller for Levi’s 606 Jeans for $105, and a Spurr Striped Dress Shirt for $103.
Finally, there’s always Gilt Groupe. On Monday, they’ll be hosting Calvin Klein Collection, Grenson, and Jean Shop. If you’re looking for some quality jeans, head to Jean Shop, maybe some brilliant tailored goods? Calvin Klein Collection. And of course, Grenson for some fine benchmade British dress shoes. Tuesday means Luciano Barbera. One of the most respectable brands in all of Italy, Barbera ought to bring some gorgeous sport coats, dress shirts, and cashmere pieces. Also on Tuesday, Gilt will be hosting Super Sunglasses, Property Of… Bags and Accessories, and Woolrich apparel. We love our Supers, so we suggest heading there right after Barbera. Also, make sure to keep up with Jetsetter as they really do have some great deals on hotels. Even if you’re not planning on going somewhere, check out hotels in cities near you for an escape for a night. If you sign up today or tomorrow, you’ll enjoy a complementary $50 to start you off. Here is your invitation to Jetsetter. If you’re one of the 5 people out there that isn’t a member of Gilt, here is your invitation.
