And here we are…number 1. What could be the most essential piece in a prepster’s wardrobe? The one piece they couldn’t do without? Well, in our humble opinion, when we think prep, we think polo shirt. Seriously, who do you think invented the popped collar? A polo shirt is something that every guy should have in his closet as it works so well in any number of situations. For the prepster, it works perfectly with his chinos or underneath his seersucker jacket and for others it can be easily paired with a slim pair of jeans.

While most guys stick to Lacoste and Ralph Lauren for their polo shirt needs, they restrict themselves from the multitude of other options that are out there. Right now, our particular favorite for the new season is the Tri-Color Polo by Paul Stuart. There’s nothing overly revolutionary about it, which to us is good, other than a very good use of color. The combination of colors mixed with Paul Stuart’s great logo makes for one hell of a preppy staple. So go out and get a couple, just don’t wear them at the same time like this guy.
