Top Ten Summer Steals: #3 Bass Dover
We’ve probably posted more than enough on this shoe, but we consider it the go-to for an attractive dress shoe. It’s rare enough to find loafers for under $100, but this particular pair receives special praise because they are not just cheap–they’re also stylish. While we don’t usually like shoes with any sort of sheen to them, the Bass Dover eludes this critique as they don’t have that cheap patent leather look. They remind us of the young Michael Jackson, who, if you remember, wore the original Weejuns at all times.
If you’re looking for a highly breathable shoe this summer, you might want to invest in an unlined loafer as the Bass Dover doesn’t breath too well. However, if you’re just looking for a good looking shoe that you can wear with jeans and a t-shirt as well as a suit, we can’t think of another shoe that will serve you better. We suggest finding a pair in person and deciding whether the leather is right for you as it is something we’ve seen people fairly torn on.

I know you like Bass loafers, especially for the price, but purchasing goes very much against the idea of buying something quality to last. They don’t look bad, but they’re badly constructed. Why not buy something twice the price that will last you 5 times as long?
Tru dat. Bass dover pinch my toes, I threw them away after a few months. They wear like women’s shoes (not that I’d know anything about that)
Lmao at Dave.
And One Swell Foop, what would you suggest that costs $190 and lasts 5 times as long?
